Session 15

Required reading:

Session 15 discusses the costs and benefits of different exchange rate arrangements (fixed versus flexible; the future of the Euro). Given the current debate in Europe about the Euro experiment, there are plenty of readings that present the arguments in favor and against the creation of a single current area. Here are some: Ken Rogoff on why a centerless Euro area cannot work, Simon Johnson on the potential end of the Euro, and Roubini on why Greece should exit the Euro.

Session 16 is a review session so any of the previous readings are useful for this session.

If you want to read an overview of the prospects for the World Economy in the coming months, I recommend the World Economic Outlook by the IMF.
