Horacio Falcão is an Affiliate
Professor of Decision Sciences at INSEAD, where he teaches mainly on the
topic of Negotiation and International Management. He conducts
negotiation and mediation training, facilitation and consulting to both
the private and the public sector. Before joining INSEAD,
Horacio worked at Cambridge Negotiation Strategies and CMI International
Group (a spin-off from the Harvard Negotiation Project) and previously
at two prestigious law firms in Brazil.
He also provided training and
consulting services through ThoughtBridge, Vantage
Partners, CommonOutlook and Sea-Change Partners. He founded and was the first
Vice President of the Harvard Latin America Law Society. He has worked
for the International Court of Arbitration in Paris and as a
Harvard-trained mediator he has mediated cases at the Small Claims
courts of Massachusetts. A lawyer trained in both civil and common law
systems, Horacio graduated as an LL.M. from Harvard Law School with a
concentration on alternative dispute resolution in 1997. |

Since then, Horacio has been traveling all over the US, Europe, Latin
America, Africa and Asia mediating complex disputes, facilitating
dialog, developing negotiation and consensus building strategies. He has
lived in Brazil, US, France and Singapore. He has worked with clients
such as the President of Costa Rica, Société Générale, Henkel, Discovery
Networks, Visa, DuPont, Hewlett Packard, Ford, Mastercard, ATKearney,
Alianza Hispana, LLoyds TSB Group, Nescaum, Oxfam, UDV, Andersen
Consulting, Arthur Andersen, BMC Software, FreeMarkets, Petronas,
INSEAD, FAS-PwC, Temasek Group, Search for Common Ground, Coats Viyella,
DKSH, The Government of Paraguay, London School of Economics, AOL,
Infineon, STATS, ST
College, Merial, BHP Billiton, BMC Software and the Harvard Mediation
Program, among others. Horacio has also taught negotiation at the
Program of Instruction for Lawyers (PIL) at Harvard Law School and
mediation at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts
University.
Besides, Horacio has founded two companies and negotiated extensively on
their behalf. He combines this diverse and intense practice with a
strong interest in keeping himself constantly updated by writing and
publishing several articles on the fields of international arbitration,
mediation, negotiation as well as relationship management. He received
his MBA in 2002 from INSEAD. Shortly
after, he received the following teaching awards: Best MBA Elective
Professor in 2004, ‘05, '06 & ‘08 as well as the Best EMBA Elective Professor
Award for 2005.
